TIGR threatens the status quo in the nation’s Capitol.
Radical re-form of the federal government must begin with a critical examination of the values, principles and infrastructure responsible for the treatment of information within the government.
The transition to a cloud-based computing architecture — with emphasis on more transparency and greater public access to information — has the potential not only to reduce the government’s operating costs, stimulate the economy and generate new efficiencies, it would also be a welcome development in terms of encouraging and increasing public awareness, influence and involvement in the decision making process. Thus enhancing the vitality of our democracy and reducing the culture of secrecy that is the breeding ground of corruption and special interest exploitation.
The charter given to the TIGR (Technology, Innovation and Government Reform) team by the Obama administration is a crucial first step in the arduous process of reinventing our democracy for the 21st century.
